Bill Peduto
William Mark Peduto (born October 30, 1964) is an American politician who was the 60th mayor of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from 2014 until 2022. He was a Democratic member of the Pittsburgh City Council from 2002 to 2014. Before his election to the city council, Peduto attended Pennsylvania State University, from which he took a leave of absence before completing his degree. He ran a consulting business and later served as chief of staff to his predecessor on the city council, Dan Cohen. Peduto was elected to the council in 2001 and served from 2002 to 2014. During that time, he ran for mayor three times. In 2005, he lost the Democratic primary to Bob O'Connor, who became mayor in 2006. Peduto again ran in a 2007 special election following O'Connor's death, but dropped out before the primary. Mayor Of Pittsburgh
The mayor of Pittsburgh is the chief executive of the government of the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, as stipulated by the Charter of the City of Pittsburgh. This article is a listing of past (and present) mayors of Pittsburgh. Prior to the 1816 city charter, the Borough of Pittsburgh had its council elect a "Chief Burgess" among themselves. After the borough rechartered itself as a city, its first seven "mayors" were selected in a similar fashion as the Chief Burgesses had been under borough council. It was not until Mayor Samuel Pettigrew in the 1830s that general elections of popular vote were conducted among all the city's voters to determine who would hold the mayor's office. Pettigrew was both the last "selected by council" mayor and the first "generally elected" mayor of Pittsburgh. The 2013 Pittsburgh mayoral election took place on November 5, 2013. Democrat Bill Peduto was elected the 60th Mayor of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The primary election was held on May 21, 2013. Incumbent Democratic Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, although eligible for a second full term, did not seek reelection as Mayor of Pittsburgh. Initially, Luke Ravenstahl had indicated an intention to seek reelection in the 2013 election and had led early Democratic primary polling. Following Ravenstahl's withdrawal in early March 2013, several candidates not previously considering a campaign joined the race and others became speculated candidates. George William Gekas (April 14, 1930 – December 16, 2021) was an American politician from Pennsylvania who served as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Pennsylvania's 17th congressional district from 1983 to 2003. Early life and education George Gekas was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Mary (Touloumes) and William Gekas. He graduated from William Penn High School in 1948. Mark Stephen Singel (born September 12, 1953) is an American politician who served as the 27th lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania from 1987 to 1995, alongside Governor Bob Casey. Singel served as the state's acting governor from June 14, 1993 to December 13, 1993, during Casey's lengthy battle with amyloidosis and subsequent multiple organ transplant. Chartiers Valley High School is a public school that was established in 1959 and is physically located in Collier Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The school's post-office address is Bridgeville, PA however. The school district serves Collier Township, Bridgeville Borough, Scott Township and Heidelberg Borough. A new high school and middle school complex is being constructed at the site. The new complex will retain its gymnasium, pool and auditorium.
