Belarusfilm
Belarusfilm ( be, Беларусьфільм) is the main film studio of Belarus. History Belarusfilm, under the name ''Belgoskino'' was founded in 1924. In 1928, the ''Soviet Belarus'' studio (''Савецкая Беларусь'') was founded in Leningrad. The studio was moved to Minsk in 1939. Film production was interrupted by World War II, and restarted in 1946, when the studio assumed its current name. In Soviet times, the studio was dubbed ''Partizanfilm'', due to the large output of films portraying the Soviet partisan's struggle against Nazi occupation. The studio was, however, also renowned for its children's films. The studio has to date made 131 animated films. Its first project was a coproduction with Soyuzmultfilm in 1963; a stop motion feature film called ''Attention! Forest Story
''Forest Story'', also known as ''Forest Life'' ( be, Лясная быль), is a 1927 silent film, based upon a story by Mikhas Charot. It has been described as "a Civil War drama romance", set in Belorussia and focuses on the Bolshevik struggle against the Poles. It was directed by Yuri Tarich, who some consider "the father of Belarusian cinema", and was the first Belgoskino film to be released. Plot Polish troops are encamped on the estate of Drabsky, a member of the landed gentry. Under the command of Colonel Yazstremski, the troops are ordered to arrest all suspicious looking characters. In the field, the old shepherd, Grishki, calls on his 20-something year old son, Grishka, to help conduct the Bolshevik, Stephan, to the blacksmith, Andre. With help from Drabsky's overseer, Kaziuk, the troops find and catch Stephan. Grishka flees to the farm of the father of his girlfriend, Gelka. Boris Shpis
Boris Vasilyevich Shpis (russian: Борис Васильевич Шпис; 1903–1939) was a Soviet film director and screenwriter. Biography Boris Shpis was a stage designer who joined Grigori Kozintsev and Leonid Trauberg's (FEKS) in 1924 and worked as assistant director in all their films up to and including '' The Club of the Big Deed''. When in 1927 Kozintsev and Trauberg decided not to continue work on the comedy '' Somebody Else's Coat,'' Shpis persuaded them to let him finish the film. The film, however, has not been released and is considered to be lost. In 1928 Boris Shpis started to work as director, first at Soyuzkino studios (now Lenfilm) and later, together with Rashel Milman, at Belgoskino Studio (now Belarusfilm). In 1937 Shpis and Milman returned to Lenfilm to reorganize and lead all film editing done at the Studio. But soon, in the Great Purge, Boris Shpis was arrested and shot. Grigori Roshal
Grigori Lvovich Roshal (russian: Григорий Львович Рошаль; October 21, 1899 – January 11, 1983) was a Soviet film director and screenwriter. He directed 26 films between 1926 and 1968. Biography Grigori Roshal was born on 21 in October 1899 (according to other sources either on 20 in October 1899 or in 1898 ), in the city of Novozybkov (now Bryansk Oblast, Russia). After graduating from the Tenishev School in St. Petersburg he was employed at the People's Commissariat for Education of Ukraine and Crimea between the years 1918 and 1919. Since 1919 he was an instructor at the People's Commissariat of Azerbaijan, selected as head of the artistic and educational part of the children's playground in Zheleznovodsk. Hindi cinema, popularly known as Bollywood and formerly as Bombay cinema, refers to the film industry based in Mumbai, engaged in production of motion pictures in Hindi language. Soviet partisans were members of resistance movements that fought a guerrilla war against Axis forces during World War II in the Soviet Union, the previously Soviet-occupied territories of interwar Poland in 1941–45 and eastern Finland. The activity emerged after Nazi Germany's Operation Barbarossa was launched from mid-1941 on. It was coordinated and controlled by the Soviet government and modeled on that of the Red Army. Oleg Nikolayevich Frelikh (russian: Олег Николаевич Фре́лих; 24 March 1887 – 6 September 1953) was a Soviet and Russian stage and film actor and director. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1947). Biography Oleg Frelikh was born on 24 March 1887 in Moscow. He graduated from the law faculty of the Moscow University and in 1911, the drama department of the Moscow Philharmonic Society. Before and after the revolution he worked as an actor of theater and cinema. Along the way in the mid-20s he started to direct films himself, filming mainly for national studios; Belgoskino, Chuvashcinema, Uzbekfilm, Vostokkino. In 1935, Frelikh became an actor of the Russian Army Theatre and in 1939 came to work at the Moscow State Theatre named after Lenin's Komsomol. Listapad ( be, Лістапад, ''meaning "November"''), also known as Minsk International Film Festival (MIFF) or Minsk International Film Festival Listapad, is an annual film festival which takes place in November in Minsk, Belarus. It is the largest such festival in Belarus. History The inaugural festival was held in 1994, at a time when Belarus had just gained independence and had fallen out of the world and post- Soviet film industry. Serhey Artimovich, the director of Tele-ARS studio, came up with the idea for the festival. Listapad was created in order to unite the best films of post-Soviet states and bring them back on the screen in Minsk.
