Philippine "Pina" Bausch (27 July 1940 – 30 June 2009) was a German dancer and choreographer who was a significant contributor to a neo-expressionist dance tradition now known as . Bausch's approach was noted for a stylized blend of dance movement, prominent sound design, and involved stage sets, as well as for engaging the dancers under her to help in the development of a piece, and her work had an influence on modern dance from the 1970s forward. Her work, regarded as a continuation of the European and American expressionist movements, incorporated many expressly dramatic elements and often explored themes connected to trauma, particularly trauma arising out of relationships. Robert Bausch (April 18, 1945 – October 9, 2018) was an American fiction writer, the author of nine novels and one collection of short stories. He was a Professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College, and he had taught at the University of Virginia, The American University, Johns Hopkins University, George Mason University, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. His fourth novel, ''A Hole in the Earth'', was a ''New York Times'' Notable Book of the Year and a ''Washington Post'' Favorite Book of the Year. François Bausch (born 16 October 1956) is a Luxembourgish politician serving as Second Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg since 2019. He is a member of the Chamber of Deputies as well as an alderman and member of the communal council of Luxembourg City. He is leader of the Greens in the Chamber. Political career Bausch was first elected to the Chamber of Deputies in the 1989 legislative election. He resigned on 11 October 1992, along with Jean Huss, under the Greens' agreed rotation system, allowing other candidates to serve as deputies. Frank Joseph "Pete" Bausch (June 14, 1908 – April 6, 1976) was an American football center in the National Football League (NFL) for the Boston Redskins, the Chicago Bears, and the Philadelphia Eagles. He played college football at the University of Kansas. Bausch was regarded as one of NFL's top centers in the 1930s, being named first-team All-Pro in 1936. During his tenure with the Bears, he became a close friend of head coach George Halas, who personally nominated him for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. When Bausch was named the head coach of the Wichita Aero Commandos in 1942, Halas gave his blessing to the team and formed an agreement with the Commandos to become a farm team for the Bears. Bausch was a player-coach for the Commandos and Eagles before retiring from playing at the end of the former's 1942 season. John Jacob Bausch (born Johann Jakob Bausch; July 25, 1830 – February 14, 1926) was a German-American maker of optical instruments who co-founded Bausch & Lomb (with Henry Lomb). Over six decades he transformed his small, local optical shop into a large-scale international enterprise, pioneering the American optical industry. Early years Bausch was born Johann Jakob Bausch to Georg Bausch, a baker, and his wife Anna Schmid, in Groß Süßen (today part of Süßen) in the Kingdom of Württemberg, then part of the German Confederation. At the age of eighteen he moved to Bern, Switzerland, where he worked as a lens grinder in an optical shop designing camera lenses. In 1850 he emigrated to the United States. Ludwig Christian August Bausch (15 January 1805 in Dresden26 May 1871 in Leipzig) was a German ''Bogenmacher'' / bow maker. He became known as the "German Tourte". Bausch started a dynasty of makers. He studied violin making in Dresden with J.B. Fritsche and eventually set up his own firm in Leipzig. He combined the best elements of French and German styles, and achieved great fame. Richard Bausch (born April 18, 1945) is an American novelist and short story writer, and Professor in the Writing Program at Chapman University in Orange, California. He has published twelve novels, eight short story collections, and one volume of poetry and prose. Bausch holds a B.A. from George Mason University, and an M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers' Workshop at the University of Iowa. He joined with the writer and editor R. V. Cassill to bring out the 6th edition of ''The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction''. Since Cassill's death in 2002, he has been the sole editor of that anthology, bringing out the 7th and 8th editions.
