BR Fernsehen
Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR; "Bavarian Broadcasting") is a public-service radio and television broadcaster, based in Munich, capital city of the Free State of Bavaria in Germany. BR is a member organization of the ARD consortium of public broadcasters in Germany. History Bayerischer Rundfunk was founded in Munich in 1922 as Deutsche Stunde in Bayern. It aired its first program on 30 March 1924. The first broadcasts consisted mainly of time announcements, news, weather and stock market reports, and music. Programming expanded to include radio plays, concerts, programs for women, language courses, chess, opera, radio, news, and Catholic and Protestant morning services. Its new 1929 studio was designed by Richard Riemerschmid. Deutsche Stunde in Bayern became Bayerischer Rundfunk in 1931. BR24 Rundschau (''BR24 Round Show''; until June 30, 2021: ''Rundschau'') is a news program produced and airing on BR Fernsehen. It started airing on October 1, 1979. Originally intended as a regional-oriented program, BR24 Rundschau later include reports from around Germany which also appeal to viewers in other states. BR24 Rundschau reports updates from Bavaria, Germany and the world. History For decades, the main edition of the ''Rundschau'' was broadcast at 6:45pm on BR Fernsehen; however, as part of a major programming overhaul, from 11 April 2016 it was extended from 15 to 30 minutes and moved to start at 6:30pm. As part of this revamp, ''Rundschau'' also received a new format, a new studio and a new on-air design. Das Erste (; "The First") is the flagship national television channel of the ARD association of public broadcasting corporations in Germany. ARD alpha is a German free-to-air television channel run by regional public-service broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk. Its programming consists of shows made by Bayerischer Rundfunk, as well as from ARD and Austrian broadcaster ORF. The channel was originally called ''BR-alpha, but'' was rebranded as ''ARD-alpha'' on 29 June 2014. Phoenix (stylised as ) is a German free-to-air television channel which is operated jointly by public-service broadcasters ARD and ZDF. It broadcasts documentaries, news, special events coverage and discussion programmes. Phoenix's headquarters are in Bonn, the former West German capital. On November 15th 2022, Phoenix closed its SDTV feed across its cable and satellite feeds, but the SD feed can still be received via an antenna. Programming Phoenix broadcasts a deaf-subtitled version of the Tagesschau, ARD's flagship news broadcast, and ZDF's premier news broadcast Heute-Journal, in German Sign Language. Arte (; (), sometimes stylized in lowercase or uppercase in its logo) is a European public service channel dedicated to culture. It is made up of three separate companies: the Strasbourg-based European Economic Interest Grouping ARTE, plus two member companies acting as editorial and programme production centres, ARTE France in Paris (formerly known as La Sept) and ARTE Deutschland in Baden-Baden (a subsidiary of the two main public German TV networks ARD and ZDF). As an international joint venture (an EEIG), its programmes focus on audiences in both countries. ''Melodien der Berge'' ''(Melodies of the Mountains)'' is a popular German speaking television program broadcast by Bayerischer Rundfunk. The show features traditional culture with the presenter and guests often wearing tracht; each show includes volksmusik mixed with alpine landscape views of Upper Bavaria and Upper Austria alongside heartfelt stories from people in the various regions, as well as cuisine which usually features traditional dishes from the featured area. Melodien der Berge started in 1999 and is presented and produced by Michael Harles. In the Autumn and Winter months the program is broadcast from an indoor cabin set referred to as 'Kaming'schichten' which features various music performances of the volksmusik genre.
