Aventra
The Alstom Aventra (sold as the Bombardier Aventra until 2021) is a family of electric multiple unit (EMU) passenger trains produced in the United Kingdom originally by Bombardier Transportation and later by Alstom, as a successor to the Bombardier Electrostar. It incorporates a large proportion of its design from the latter family, while also including numerous new technologies and achieving compliance with more stringent requirements and operator demands. Bombardier began developing the Aventra in 2009 based on feedback from train operating companies (TOCs) and upcoming regulation changes. It has been designed to provide a generic platform for conducting inter-regional, commuter, metro, and high-speed passenger services. It has been claimed to be more efficient and flexible than the Electrostar, which was mainly achieved via the greater use of digital technology. Ilford EMU Depot
Ilford EMU Depot is a traction maintenance depot located in Ilford, Greater London, England. The depot is situated on the Great Eastern Main Line and is on the north side of the line to the east of Ilford station, between that station and Seven Kings railway station. Within the site is a sixteen-road shed operated by Greater Anglia for train maintenance of class 321, 315 and 317 units. Class 379 units were maintained by Bombardier on one of the roads with Class 360 units maintained by Siemens on another road. On introduction of Class 710 and 720 Aventras in 2019/20 all maintenance staff and facilities were transferred to Bombardier. TfL Rail was the concession which operated commuter services on two separate railway lines in London, England and its environs whilst the Crossrail construction project linking these lines was underway.
