Aung San Suu Kyi
Aung San Suu Kyi (; ; born 19 June 1945) is a Burmese politician, diplomat, author, and a 1991 Nobel Peace Prize laureate who served as State Counsellor of Myanmar (equivalent to a prime minister) and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2016 to 2021. She has served as the chairperson of the National League for Democracy (NLD) since 2011, having been the general secretary from 1988 to 2011. She played a vital role in Myanmar's transition from military junta to partial democracy in the 2010s. The youngest daughter of Aung San, Father of the Nation of modern-day Myanmar, and Khin Kyi, Aung San Suu Kyi was born in Rangoon, British Burma. Her Excellency
Excellency is an honorific style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy. Once entitled to the title "Excellency", the holder usually retains the right to that courtesy throughout their lifetime, although in some cases the title is attached to a particular office, and is held only for the duration of that office. Soe Maung
Soe Maung ( my, စိုးမောင်) is a Burmese politician and retired army general. He served as a Minister of the President's Office in Thein Sein's Cabinet along with five other ministers. He is a retired Major General in the Myanmar Army and a former Judge Advocate General. He is a graduate of the Defence Services Academy. In August 2018, Soe Maung registered a new political party, Democratic Party of National Politics (DNP), in the leadup to the 2020 Myanmar general election, along with another former military officer and Auditor-General, Lun Maung. DNP has faced allegations of being a proxy party for the military-operated Union Solidarity and Development Party because of Soe Maung's close ties to Than Shwe. Michael Aris
Michael Vaillancourt Aris (27 March 1946 – 27 March 1999) was an English historian who wrote and lectured on Bhutanese, Tibetan and Himalayan culture and history. He was the husband of Aung San Suu Kyi, who would later become State Counsellor of Myanmar. Kawmhu Township ( my, ကော့မှူး မြို့နယ် ) is a township of Yangon Region, Myanmar. It is located in the southwestern section of the Region. Kawhmu was one of the townships in Yangon Region most affected by Cyclone Nargis. The Pyithu Hluttaw ( my, ပြည်သူ့ လွှတ်တော်, ; House of Representatives) is the ''de jure'' lower house of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, the bicameral legislature of Myanmar (Burma). It consists of 440 members, of which 330 are directly elected through the first-past-the-post system in each townships (the third-level administrative divisions of Myanmar), and 110 are appointed by the Myanmar Armed Forces. Zeya Aung
Zeya Aung ( my, ဇေယျာအောင်; also spelt Zeyar Aung) is the incumbent Minister of Construction. He was appointed by President Thein Sein in August 2013, following the transfer of his predecessor, Than Htay, by presidential order, on 25 July 2013. Myo Thein Gyi ( my, မျိုးသိမ်းကြီး; born 2 September 1965) is the former Ministry of Education (Myanmar), Minister for Education of Myanmar. He previously served as Professor of Mathematics Department, Dagon University, Director General of Department of Myanmar Education Research and Rector of West Yangon University. Khin San Yi
Khin San Yi ( my, ခင်စန်းရီ; also spelt Khin San Yee) is a Burmese development economist, previously served as Minister for Education of Myanmar and Minister for Science and Technology of Myanmar from February 2014 to 30 March 2016. She became the second Burmese woman to be appointed minister by the Thein Sein administration.
