Argentine Rock
Argentine rock (known locally as ''rock nacional'' , "national rock" in the sense of "local", "not international") is rock music composed or performed by Argentine bands or artists mostly in Spanish. Argentine rock began by recycling hits of English-language rock & roll. However a rising trend of composing new songs mostly in Spanish can be traced at late 1960s, when several garage groups and aspiring musicians began composing songs and lyrics that related to local social and musical topics. Since then, Argentine rock started a continued and uninterrupted evolution through the 1970s and into the 1980s. A distinguishing trait of Argentine rock is its insistence on Spanish language lyrics. Bluegrass Music
Bluegrass music is a genre of American roots music that developed in the 1940s in the Appalachian region of the United States. The genre derives its name from the band Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys. Like mainstream country music, it largely developed out of old-time string music, though in contrast, bluegrass is traditionally played exclusively on acoustic instruments and also has roots in traditional English, Scottish, and Irish ballads and dance tunes as well as in blues and jazz. Bluegrass was further developed by musicians who played with Monroe, including 5-string banjo player Earl Scruggs and guitarist Lester Flatt. Los Beatnicks
Los Beatniks were an early Argentine rock garage group. Active in the middle years of the 1960s, they went down in trivia history as recording the first original rock single in Argentina titled "Rebelde". Despite their short career, the band are considered one of the pioneers of Argentine rock. History The band featured three key figures of the early rock movement in Argentina: Moris and Pajarito Zaguri in guitars and voice, Javier Martínez in drums. They were also the most important band playing at the ''"La Cueva"'' club in Buenos Aires, one of the mythical gathering spots from where many of the first Argentine rock bands would emerge. Tanguito
José Alberto Iglesias (September 16, 1944 – May 19, 1972), better known as Tango or its diminutive Tanguito or Ramses VII, was an Argentine rock singer-songwriter. Born into a working-class family from western Greater Buenos Aires, he began his career in the early 1960s as the lead singer of the '' nueva ola'' group Los Dukes, which recorded two singles released on label Music Hall. In the late 1960s, he became a leading figure in the countercultural underground of Buenos Aires, a scene that gave birth to Argentine rock (known locally as ''rock nacional'', Spanish for "national rock"), the earliest incarnation of Spanish-language rock. Miguel Abuelo
Miguel Angel Peralta, (March 21, 1946 – March 26, 1988) known by his artistic name Miguel Abuelo, was an Argentine rock musician and singer. Early days A native of Munro, in the Greater Buenos Aires industrial belt, Miguel Peralta was one of the young rockers that grew out of the ''Norte'' hotel, the ''Perla del Once'' café and the ''La Cueva'' night club in Buenos Aires in the late 1960s. Abuelo did not play in ''La Cueva'' but was friendly with many who did. At some point, he and fellow poetry buff Pipo Lernoud were approached by Ben Molar, a recording executive of ''Mandioca'' (the only label in Argentina dedicated to record Spanish language rock). On the spur of the moment, Peralta claimed that he had a band called ''Los Abuelos de la Nada'' (the Grandparents of Nothingness) which was ready to enter the studio. Mauricio "Moris" Birabent (born 19 November 1942) is an Argentine rock musician and pioneer of Spanish-language rock Biography Mauricio Birabent was born in Buenos Aires in 1942. He took guitar lessons at age 12 and, in subsequent years, began frequenting local piano bars and jazz clubs. The son of an engineer, he enrolled at the Otto Krause Technical School. He maintained his musical interests, however, and, in 1965, began performing at ''La Cueva'', a Balvanera-neighborhood disco. Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Beat music, British beat, or Merseybeat is a British popular music genre that developed, particularly in and around Liverpool, in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The genre melded influences from American rock and roll, rhythm and blues, skiffle, traditional pop and music hall. It rose to mainstream popularity in the UK and Europe by 1963 before spreading to the North America in 1964 with the British Invasion. Ana María Francisca Adinolfi ( stage name, Violeta Rivas; 4 October 1937 – 23 June 2018) was an Argentine singer and actress, known for participating in the music program ''El Club del Clan'', along with Palito Ortega, Raúl Lavié, Johnny Tedesco and Chico Novarro. Biography Rivas was born in Chivilcoy, Buenos Aires Province, in 1937. At the age of five, she participated in a contest in Chivilcoy singing the songs of Clavito Chino and Los Gitanos. A year later, she was chosen by her school to sing in the choir of the Postal Savings Bank. She subsequently studied lyrical singing. Rivas married Néstor Fabián and they had a daughter. Ramón Bautista Ortega (; born February 28, 1941) is an Argentine singer and actor, better known as Palito Ortega ().
