Sir Anthony Browne (29 June 1443 – c. 17 November 1506) was the son of Sir Thomas Browne and Eleanor FitzAlan. He served as standard-bearer to Henry VII, and Lieutenant of Calais. Career Anthony Browne, born at Betchworth Castle, was a younger son of Sir Thomas Browne and Eleanor FitzAlan, daughter of Thomas Fitzalan, third son of John de Arundel, 2nd Baron Arundel (d. 14 August 1390), and Elizabeth le Despenser (d. 10/11 April 1408). He was a younger brother of Sir George Browne. Sir Anthony Browne, KG (c. 1500Bindoff. ''The History of Parliament: the House of Commons 1509–1558,'' ed. S.T. Sir Anthony Browne QS (1509–1567), sometimes referred to as Antony Browne, was a British justice. Life He came from a family of lawyers. His father, Sir Wistan Browne, was a barrister of the Middle Temple, and three of his uncles served as benchers there, one of whom was Sir Humphrey Browne, a justice of the Court of Common Pleas. On his mother, Elizabeth's side were Sir John Mordaunt, chancellor of the Duchy of Cornwall, and William Mordaunt, chief Prothonotary of the Common Pleas. Keeping with family tradition he joined Middle Temple, and became a pupil of John Jenour, at the time the second Prothonotary of the Common Pleas. In 1545, he became a Member of Parliament, and in 1554 a bencher of Middle Temple. Anthony Browne, 1st Viscount Montagu, KB, PC (29 November 1528 – 19 October 1592) was an English peer during the Tudor period. Biography Anthony Browne was the eldest of the six sons of Sir Anthony Browne by his first wife, Alice Gage (d. 31 March 1540/1), the daughter of Sir John Gage of Firle, Sussex. Browne was elected a member of parliament for Guildford in 1545, and named standard-bearer jointly with his father in 1546. Before 16 February 1547 he was appointed as an equerry in the royal stables. He was among the forty Knights of the Bath created at the coronation of King Edward VI on 20 February 1547. According to Elzinga, Browne's conservative views, and particularly his support for Henry VIII's daughter, Princess Mary, antagonized the Edwardian regime, but he was nonetheless re-elected for Guildford in 1547, and at his father's death on 28 April 1548 was allowed to purchase his wardship for £333 6s 8d, although he was replaced as standard-bearer, as being too youn ... Anthony Browne (22 July 1552 – 29 June 1592) was Sheriff of Surrey and of Kent in 1580. The heir to a great estate in Sussex, he predeceased his father by four months. Aside from his own progeny, his sister Mary married Henry Wriothesley, 2nd Earl of Southampton who gave birth to Henry Wriothesley, 3rd Earl of Southampton. Anthony-Maria Browne (1574 – 23 October 1629) was an English peer during the Tudor and Stuart period. He was born in 1574, the son of Anthony Browne (22 July 1552 – 29 June 1592), eldest son of Anthony Browne, 1st Viscount Montagu, and Mary Dormer. Sir Anthony Arthur Duncan Montague Browne (8 May 1923 – 1 April 2013) was a British diplomat who was private secretary to Sir Winston Churchill during the last ten years of the latter's life. Montague Browne was the biological father of Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, but Welby learned that only after paternity testing had been taken after Montague Browne's death. Anthony Edward Tudor Browne (born 11 September 1946) is a British writer and illustrator of children's books, primarily picture books. Browne has written or illustrated over fifty books, and received the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2000. From 2009 to 2011 he was Children's Laureate. Browne won two Kate Greenaway Medals from the Library Association, recognising the year's best children's book illustration. For the 50th anniversary of the Medal (1955–2005), a panel named his 1983 medalist ''Gorilla'' one of the top ten winning works, which composed the ballot for a public election of the nation's favourite. Tony Browne
Tony Browne (born 1 July 1973) is an Irish hurler who played as a right wing-back for the Waterford senior team from 1991 until his retirement from inter-county hurling in 2014. Browne made his first appearance for the team during the 1991–92 National League and immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen. During his inter-county career, he won four Munster winners' medals and one National League winners' medal. He ended up as an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level Browne is a one-time Munster medalist with Mount Sion. In addition to this he has won seven county club championship medals. Browne has a number of personal achievements, including being the most "capped" Waterford hurler of all-time.
