Alvin Patrimonio
Alvin Dale Vergara Patrimonio (born November 17, 1966) is a Filipino retired professional basketball player from the Philippine Basketball Association and is the current team manager for the Magnolia Hotshots. Patrimonio holds several PBA records including most consecutive games played (596); third most points scored in history (15,091); fourth most rebounds grabbed in history (more than 6,000) and second-most PBA Most Valuable Player awards (4, tied with Ramon Fernandez). He is also the second player after Bogs Adornado to win back-to-back MVP awards in 1993 and 1994, and also the second player to win three Best Player of the Conference award after Vergel Meneses. He also shares the distinction of having played the most Asian Games (4) with 1990 PBA MVP Allan Caidic. He played his entire career with the Purefoods franchise and won five championships, mostly in the All-Filipino Conference championships with three. Philippine Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Award
The Philippine Basketball Association Most Valuable Player (MVP) is an annual Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) award given since the start of the league in 1975 to the best performing player of the season. The award is decided using criteria introduced since the 2011–12 season, which include accumulated statistical points, votes from media, players and the league's Commissioner's Office. The current holder of the award is Scottie Thompson. The season MVP is for the ''whole'' season, which has two to three conferences, including the regular season, the playoffs and the Finals, while there is a Best Player of the Conference award for each conference, and a Best Import award for conferences where imports are allowed to play. The 1996 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) All-Filipino Cup was the first conference of the 1996 PBA season. It started on February 18 and ended on May 26, 1996. The tournament is an All-Filipino format, which doesn't require an import or a pure-foreign player for each team. Format The following format will be observed for the duration of the conference: * Double-round robin eliminations; 14 games per team; Teams are then seeded by basis on win–loss records. * The top five teams after the eliminations will advance to the semifinals. * Semifinals will be two round robin affairs with the remaining five teams. Philippine Basketball Association Best Player Of The Conference Award
The Philippine Basketball Association's Best Player of the Conference Award is given to the best local (Filipino or part-Filipino) player at the end of each conference (tournament). It was first awarded in the 1994 All-Filipino Conference. The Best Import Award is given to the best player (non-Filipino) at the end of each import-laden conference. Criteria The method of selecting the Best Player of the Conference is similar on how the season's Most Valuable Player is selected.
