Alice Brady
Alice Brady (born Mary Rose Brady; November 2, 1892 – October 28, 1939) was an American actress who began her career in the silent film era and survived the transition into talkies. She worked until six months before her death from cancer in 1939. Her films include '' My Man Godfrey'' (1936), in which she plays the flighty mother of Carole Lombard's character, and ''In Old Chicago'' (1937) for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 1960, Brady received a motion pictures star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to the film industry. Her star is located at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard. James Crane (actor)
James Lyon Crane (1889–1968) was an American stage and screen actor. Early years Crane was born in Rantoul, Illinois, and was the son of writer Frank Crane, who left the ministry and became an editorial writer for '' The New York Globe.'' He attended Bowdoin College and Williams College. During summer vacations, he began acting with stock companies in Worcester, Massachusetts. Career Crane's New York debut came in ''The Price'' at the Hudson Theatre, after which he spent three years in stock theater, including having his own troupes in four cities. Catherine O'Leary
Catherine "Cate" O'Leary (née Donegan; March 1827 – July 3, 1895) was an Irish immigrant living in Chicago, Illinois, who became famous when it was alleged that an accident involving her cow had started the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Born Catherine Donegan, she and her husband, Patrick O'Leary, had three children, one of whom, James Patrick O'Leary, ran a well-known Chicago saloon and gambling hall. Great Chicago Fire On the evening of October 8, 1871, a fire consumed the O'Leary family's barn at 137 DeKoven Street. ''When Ladies Meet'' is a 1933 pre-Code film directed by Harry Beaumont and starring Ann Harding, Myrna Loy, Robert Montgomery, Alice Brady, and Frank Morgan. The World Film Company or World Film Corporation was an American film production and distribution company, organized in 1914 in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Grace George
Grace George (December 25, 1879 – May 19, 1961) was a prominent American stage actress, who had a long career on Broadway stage and also appeared in two films. Biography Grace George was born on December 25, 1879. She married producer William A. Brady, a widower, and was stepmother to his daughter, actress Alice Brady. George starred as ''Esther'' in the hugely successful 1899 Broadway adaptation of '' Ben Hur'' from Lew Wallace's novel. George appeared in a silent film called ''Tainted Money'' in 1915. In 1935, she gave an acclaimed performance as Mary Herries in Edward Chodorov's thriller, '' Kind Lady'', at the Booth Theatre.
