Alexander Artemev
Alexander Vladimirovich "Sasha" Artemev (russian: Александр Владимирович "Саша" Артемьев, be, Аляксандр Уладзіміравіч Арцем'еў; born August 29, 1985) is a retired American artistic gymnast. Artemev was a member of the bronze medal-winning U.S. team at the 2008 Olympic Games. He is the 2006 all-around U.S. national champion. Known for his ability on pommel horse, he is the 2007 and 2008 U.S. national champion on the pommel horse and won the bronze medal on the event at the 2006 World Championships. Guillermo Alvarez (gymnast)
Guillermo Alvarez (born October 24, 1982) is a retired American gymnast. He was a member of the 2006 and 2007 World Championship teams. In 2008, he just missed the Olympics, finishing 6th in the all around and 3rd on pommel horse, but not earning a selection. In college, Alvarez competed for the Minnesota Golden Gophers and was the 2005 Nissen Award winner (the "Heisman" of men's gymnastics). Alvarez retired in 2009 at the age of 26. Kurt Bilteaux Thomas (March 29, 1956June 5, 2020) was an American Olympic gymnast and part-time actor. In 1978, he became the first American male gymnast to win a gold medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships (world championships). In 1979, he won six medals at the world championship, setting the record for most medals won at a single world championship by an American gymnast, a feat matched only by Simone Biles in 2018. The boycott of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles followed four years after the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport in which gymnasts perform on a floor with an apparatus: hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon. The sport combines elements of gymnastics, dance and calisthenics; gymnasts must be strong, flexible, agile, dexterous and coordinated.
