Farm Stay
A farm stay (or farmstay) is any type of accommodation on a working farm. Some farm stays may be interactive. Some are family-focused and offer children opportunities to feed animals, collect eggs and learn how a farm functions. Others do not allow children. The term "farm stay" can also describe a work exchange agreement, where the guest works a set number of hours per week in exchange for free or affordable accommodation. Rural tourism is a tourism that focuses on actively participating in a rural lifestyle. It can be a variant of ecotourism. Many villages can facilitate tourism because many villagers are hospitable and eager to welcome or host visitors. Agriculture has become more mechanized and requires less manual labor. This trend is causing economic pressure on some villages, which in turn causes young people to move to urban areas. There is however, a segment of the urban population that is interested in visiting the rural areas and understanding the lifestyle. Rural Ramble
The Rural Ramble is an annual summer farm tour made up of a selection of regional farms showcasing many aspects of the local agricultural operations. It is an example of agritourism which provides opportunities for non-farm people to learn first hand where their food comes from, and to foster a broader understanding of the importance of agriculture today. Frequently tours highlight the history of farming in Ontario along with today's practices and technology. New host sites come onto the tour and older ones leave, so the tour is unique each year. Host farms and rural businesses are listed in a "passport" booklet, which contains information about the sites and a map of the county showing how to find each place. Guest Ranch
A guest ranch, also known as a dude ranch, is a type of ranch oriented towards visitors or tourism. It is considered a form of agritourism. History Guest ranches arose in response to the romanticization of the American West that began to occur in the late 19th century. In 1893, historian Frederick Jackson Turner stated that the United States frontier was demographically "closed". This in turn led many people to have feelings of nostalgia for bygone days, but also, given that the risks of a true frontier were gone, allowed for nostalgia to be indulged in relative safety.
