Aadukalam
''Aadukalam'' (; ) is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Vetrimaran, who also co-wrote the screenplay and dialogues with Vikram Sugumaran from his story. Produced by Five Star Kathiresan and distributed by Sun Pictures, the film stars Dhanush and Taapsee Pannu (in her film debut), with Kishore, V. I. S. Jayapalan, Naren, and Murugadoss in supporting roles. G. V. Prakash Kumar composed the film score and soundtrack. The film was released on 14 January 2011 to critical acclaim, with critics praising the screenplay, direction and performances. The film won six awards at the 58th National Film Awards, including Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor. The film also won five awards at the 59th Filmfare Awards South – Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Music Director and Best Cinematography. Vetrimaran
Vetrimaaran is an Indian film director, screenwriter and film producer, who works in the Tamil film industry. As of 2021, he has won five National Film Awards, eight Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards, two Filmfare South Awards and the Amnesty International Italia Award from 72nd Venice Film Festival. Vetrimaaran made his directorial debut with the '' Polladhavan'' (2007). His second feature film '' Aadukalam'' (2011) won six National Film Awards. He produces films under his production company, Grass Root Film Company. His movie ''Visaranai'' (2016) was selected as India's official entry to the Academy Awards. The 58th National Film Awards, presented by Directorate of Film Festivals, the organisation set up by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India to felicitate the best of Indian Cinema for the year 2010. Aadukalam Murugadoss is an Indian actor who has appeared in Tamil language films. He made his breakthrough portraying Dhanush's friend in Vetrimaaran's critically acclaimed 2011 film. '' Aadukalam'', thus adding the name of the film as a prefix to create a stage name.
