Aabybro
Aabybro or Åbybro is a town in North Jutland, Denmark. The town is the seat of Jammerbugt Municipality, and is the biggest town in the municipality. Aabybro is located 17 km southwest of Brønderslev, 16 km northwest of Aalborg and 30 km northeast of Fjerritslev. History Aabybro was a railway town from 1897 until 1969. Before the construction of the station, there was a very small settlement in the area. The station brought more traffic and expanded the town. It was a stop on the Hjørring-Løkken-Aabybro rail, which operated between 1913 and 1963. Aabybro was formerly the seat of Aabybro Municipality. The municipality was established in 1970 and lasted until 2007, where the municipality was merged with the municipalities of Pandrup, Brovst Brovst is a town in North Jutland, Denmark. Jammerbugt Municipality
Jammerbugt Municipality is a municipality ( Danish: '' kommune'') in the North Jutland Region on the North Jutlandic Island. It is located along the coast of Skagerrak to the north and the Limfjord to the south. It borders the municipalities of Thisted, Vesthimmerland, Aalborg, Brønderslev and Hjørring. Jammerbugt Municipality was formed during the municipal reform of 2007, when the municipalities of Brovst Municipality, Fjerritslev Municipality, Pandrup Municipality and Aabybro Municipality were merged. Since the municipality's foundation in 2007 the mayor has been Mogens Christian Gade of the Venstre party. Mogens Christian Gade was also the mayor of Brovst Municipality since 2002 and until it was dissolved in 2007. The name of the region, the Jammerbugt, translating to the ''Bay of Woe'', was originally given due to the numerous shipwrecks laid there. The municipality covered an area of 170.88 km2, and had a total population of 11,390 (2006). Its last mayor was Ole Lykkegaard Andersen, a member of the Venstre political party. Aabybro Municipality bordered Brovst Municipality to the west, Pandrup and Brønderslev Municipality to the north and Aalborg Municipality to the east and south. The municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen 2007'' (the Municipality Reform of 2007). Kasper Pedersen
Kasper Pedersen (born 13 January 1993) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a defender for Stabæk Fotball. Club career Pedersen started his youth career at Aabybro IF, before moving to Jetsmark IF – a club affiliated with Aalborg Boldspilklub (AaB). At the age of 12 he joined the AaB youth team. He made his senior debut for the reserve team in the Denmark Series, the fourth tier of Danish football. In the spring of 2013, he made his first team debut in the Danish Superliga where he also scored his first official goal as a senior. In the 2015–16 pre-season Kasper signed a 4-year contract with AaB in which he was considered a permanent replacement for defender Rasmus Thelander, who was sold to Greek Panathinaikos on the same day. Fjerritslev
Fjerritslev is a town in North Jutland, Denmark. It is located in Jammerbugt Municipality, 13 km north of Løgstør, 37 km northeast of Thisted and 30 km southwest of Aabybro. Until 1 January 2007 Fjerritslev was the seat of the former Fjerritslev Municipality. History Fjerritslev is mentioned in 1487 under the name Fieridsleff. Until the middle of the 1800s Fjerritslev only consisted of a series of spread-out houses and farms. A tavern was built in Fjerritslev in 1840, which began the expansion of the town. Following the tavern was other establishments, including a post office, bank, school and brewery. With the construction of the train station in 1897, the town began to rapidly expand. During the German occupation of Denmark in 1940-45 multiple buildings in the town was occupied by the Germans. Lone Drøscher Nielsen (born 1964) is a Danish wildlife conservationist who established the Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Reintroduction Project in Kalimantan, Borneo, Indonesia in 1998. Early life and work She was born and grew up in Aabybro, Denmark. She encountered her first orangutan while volunteering as a fourteen-year-old at Aalborg zoo. Later, when she was working as a flight attendant for Scandinavian Airlines, she volunteered for a month-long project on the Indonesian island of Borneo, and here she came into contact with orangutans again. From 1996 until 2010, Drøscher Nielsen lived in Borneo to help save the Bornean orangutan from extinction due to loss of its natural habitat due to logging and oil palm plantations.
