ASK Riga
ASK Rīga is a former professional basketball club that was based in Riga, Latvia. "ASK" stood for "Armijas Sporta Klubs" (in English: Army Sports Club). History BK Rīga was then founded in 2004, and it got back the original name of ASK Rīga on March 23, 2006, which was supported by the Riga City Council, the National Latvian Army Forces, and some powerful sponsors, as well as the brand new Arēna Rīga, with room for 12,500 fans. The team then made it to both the Baltic League and the FIBA EuroCup quarterfinals, but the best was yet to come. The arrival of Torraye Braggs happened to be the key piece in a roster already featuring Sandis Valters, Raitis Grafs, Curtis Millage, A.J. Bramlett, and Sandis Buškevics. Arēna Rīga
Arena Riga ( lv, Arēna Rīga) is an indoor arena in Riga, Latvia. It is primarily used for ice hockey, basketball and concerts. Arena Riga holds a maximum of 14,500 and was opened on 15 February 2006. It was built to be used as one of the venues for the 2006 IIHF World Championship, the other being Skonto Arena. The arena was designed by the Canadian company SCI Architects and Latvian firms SIA Merks and SIA Nams. Flag Of Latvia
The national flag of Latvia ( lv, Latvijas karogs) was used by independent Latvia from 1918 until the country was occupied by the Soviet Union in 1940. Its use was suppressed during Soviet rule. On 27 February 1990, shortly before the country regained its independence, the Latvian government re-adopted the traditional red-white-red flag. Though officially adopted in 1921, the Latvian flag was in use as early as the 13th century. The red colour is sometimes described as symbolizing the readiness of the Latvians to give the blood from their hearts for freedom and their willingness to defend their sovereignty. Steponas Babrauskas
Steponas Babrauskas (born June 20, 1984) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player. Professional career Babrauskas was a runner-up in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) with Lietuvos Rytas, in 2004. He won the Latvian Basketball League (LBL) with ASK Riga, in 2007. In 2008, he returned to Lietuvos Rytas, and was named the team's captain. With Rytas, he won the European secondary level EuroCup championship, the Lithuanian League championship, and the Baltic League (BBL) championship. He was one of the most hated opposing players by the rival fans of Žalgiris Kaunas. He had a brief stint in Turkey, in the 2014-15 season, a year removed after he left Rytas. Martynas Andriukaitis (March 28, 1981 – September 4, 2014) was a Lithuanian professional basketball player. He was born in Kaunas. Professional career During his pro club career, Andriukaitis won the Lithuanian League championship (2001), and the Latvian League championship (2007). He was also a league runner-up in the North European League, in 2001. Ernests Kalve (born April 4, 1987) is a Latvian professional basketball player and assistant coach for BK Ogre of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League. Professional career Kalve's first team was Falco/Ķeizarmežs in Latvian Amateur Basketball League. He played in U-18 2005 European Championship, where he was the tournament's top scorer. Uvis Helmanis (born June 10, 1972) is a former Latvian professional basketball player who played at power forward position. After retiring he became a basketball coach, and currently works as a head coach for Löwen Erfurt. Arnis Vecvagars (April 12, 1974) is a Latvian former basketball player, and former coach of the Latvian national basketball team. He is the father of Latvian basketball player Kaspars Vecvagars. Playing career Arnis Vecvagars spent most of his career playing in LBL with ASK/Brocēni/LMT, BK Ventspils and ASK Riga as the most notable teams. Roberts Štelmahers
Roberts Štelmahers (born November 19, 1974) is a Latvian retired professional basketball player, who played the point guard position. Štelmahers was a member of the Latvia national basketball team from 1992 to 2005 participating in four EuroBasket final tournaments in 1997, 2001, 2003 and 2005. He has played a total of 144 games for his national team. He was most recently the head coach of the ERA Nymburk of the National Basketball League.
