2013 PGA Tour
The 2013 PGA Tour was the 98th season of the U.S.-based golf tour, and the 46th since separating from the PGA of America. The season began on January 4, 2013. The season ran from January to September, the shorter-than-usual schedule aiding in the transition from the long-running January–December schedule to the new wraparound October–September schedule. It was the last season to be held entirely in one calendar year; the 2013–14 season would begin in October 2013. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2013 season. Tampa Bay Championship
The Valspar Championship is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour, played annually on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, northwest of Tampa, Florida. History The tournament was founded in 2000 as the Tampa Bay Classic, and was originally an alternate event in autumn and late summer. It was opposite the Presidents Cup in October 2000, and the same week as the WGC-American Express Championship in September 2002. It was scheduled for the same week as the WGC-American Express Championship in 2001 in mid-September, but the September 11 attacks (on Tuesday) forced the cancellations of both tournaments. Scott Brown (golfer)
Scott Brown (born May 22, 1983) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Brown attended the University of South Carolina Aiken, playing at Division II level collegiate golf. He turned professional in 2006, and begun playing mini-tours. He played on the NGA Hooters Tour from 2007 to 2009 and finished on top of the eGolf Professional Tour money list in 2009, with three wins. In 2010 and 2011 he played on the Nationwide Tour, recording five top-three finishes in 2011 to finish eighth on the money list and earn a PGA Tour card for 2012. Brown missed his first six PGA Tour cuts before finished tied for fifth at the 2012 Puerto Rico Open. Puerto Rico Open
The Puerto Rico Open is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour that was first played in 2008. It is the only PGA Tour event ever held in Puerto Rico. The tournament is played at the Coco Beach Golf Course (previously Trump International Golf Club Puerto Rico) which was designed by Tom Kite. From its inception through 2015, it was played in early March as an alternate event to the WGC-Cadillac Championship, but in 2016 it moved to late March, opposite the WGC-Dell Match Play. All four rounds are broadcast on the Golf Channel. The winner of the Puerto Rico Open earns 300 FedEx Cup points and 24 OWGR points, compared to 550 FedEx Cup and 70-80 OWGR points for World Golf Championships. As an alternate event, the winner does not earn a bid to the Masters, but still receives a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour (compared to three for a WGC event) and entry into the PGA Championship as a Tour winner. 2013 WGC-Cadillac Championship
The 2013 WGC-Cadillac Championship was a golf tournament played March 7–10 on the TPC Blue Monster course at Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Doral, Florida, a suburb west of Miami. It was the 14th WGC-Cadillac Championship tournament, and the second of the World Golf Championships events to be staged in 2013. Tiger Woods won with a score of 19-under-par, two strokes ahead of runner-up Steve Stricker. It was the seventh time Woods had won the event and was his 17th WGC victory. Michael Thompson (golfer)
} Michael Hayes Thompson (born April 16, 1985) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He has won two tournaments on the PGA Tour, with the most recent one coming at the 2020 3M Open. Amateur career Thompson attended University High School in Tucson, Arizona from 1999 to 2003. While there he won the Class 4A state team championship in 2003, and was named the Arizona High School State Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003. The Honda Classic
The Honda Classic is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour in south Florida. It was founded in 1972 as Jackie Gleason's Inverrary Classic, and prior to a schedule change in 2021 was frequently the first of the Florida events in late winter following the "West Coast Swing." National Airlines was the sponsor in 1973 with Gleason, and American Motors Corporation (AMC) backed it in 1981. Since 1982, American Honda Motor Company (Honda) has been the title sponsor. World Golf Championships
The World Golf Championships (WGC) are a group of annual professional golf tournaments created by the International Federation of PGA Tours as a means of gathering the best players in the world together more frequently than the pre-existing four major championships. All WGC tournaments are official money events on the PGA Tour and the European Tour, and officially sanctioned by the Asian Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Sunshine Tour, and PGA Tour of Australasia. The WGC tournaments offer comparable prize money to the major championships. Matthew Gregory Kuchar (born June 21, 1978) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and formerly the Nationwide Tour. He has won nine times on the PGA Tour.
