2008 CONCACAF Futsal Championship
The 2008 CONCACAF Futsal Championship was the fourth edition of the main international futsal tournament of the North and Central America and the Caribbean region. It took place in Guatemala City, Guatemala from 3 to 8 June 2008, with the Domo Polideportivo de la CDAG as the only venue. Hosts Guatemala won the tournament after defeating the United States in semifinals and Cuba in the final. It was the first international futsal title won by Guatemala. The tournament also acted as a qualifying tournament for the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Brazil, with second and third placed teams Cuba and the U.S. joining Guatemala as the qualified teams. 2004 CONCACAF Futsal Championship
The 2004 CONCACAF Futsal Championship was the 3rd edition of the CONCACAF Futsal Championship, the quadrennial international futsal championship organised by CONCACAF for the men's national teams of the North, Central American and Caribbean region. The tournament was held in Heredia, Costa Rica between 23 July–1 August 2004. A total of eight teams played in the tournament. Same as previous editions, the tournament acted as the CONCACAF qualifiers for the FIFA Futsal World Cup. The top two teams of the tournament qualified for the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship in Chinese Taipei as the CONCACAF representatives. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same.
