"Trust Issues" was released in tandem with ''Care Package'' through OVO Sound on August 2, 2019, roughly six months after the re-release of Drake's breakout mixtape, '' So Far Gone'' (2009), and two days before his eighth annual OVO Fest held in Toronto. Music and lyrics

"Trust Issues" is 4 minutes and 41 seconds long. It is the fourth song on ''Care Package'' and it was produced, mixed and mastered by Noah Shebib, as well as guitars played by Adrian Eccleston. The song contains a smooth and down tempo sample from " I'm on One". "Trust Issues" is an R&B song that examines the suffering and ambiguity that result from negotiating the complexities of interpersonal relationships. Chris Coplan of '' Consequence'' described it as "half confessional, half ode to drank", and ''Singersroom'' described stated that it intensifies to a powerful conclusion as Drake's vocals soar above the energetic arrangement. Writing for '' The Edge'', George Townsend wrote that "Trust Issues" is a slow, melodic, atmospheric track on which Drake’s likeness to the Weeknd is undoubted. Opening with
