History

This GRC came into formation in 1991, when it absorbed the Tiong Bahru GRC,

and Tanjong Pagar Single Member Constituencies (SMC). Since the formation of the GRC, the ward was notable for its repeated

In addition in 2011, Tanjong Pagar GRC became the only constituency to be uncontested following the disqualification of a team of independent candidates (led by Ng Teck Siong) as they submitted their nomination papers late. In 2025, the GRC absorbed Dover and Telok Blangah from West Coast GRC. To maintain as a five-member GRC, the electorate was reduced by carving out Queenstown ward to form a new Queenstown SMC. In the election of the same year, the PAP won with 81% of the vote.
