History
Stanford Court, a Grade II listed 18th century stately home, is the ancestral home of the Winnington baronets. The house was first built in the reign of King James I. It was extended in the 18th century, and remodelled after a fire in 1882. Lucy Lyttelton Cameron, the children's author was born here in 1781. She was the daughter of George Butt and his wife and they had another daughter named Mary Martha.
