The Scindia School is a residential boys’ school established in 1897 and situated in the Gwalior Fort in Gwalior, India. Initially called the Sardar’s School, it primarily served the sons of Indian royals and nobles. In 1933, the school began admitting students from a broader range of backgrounds and was renamed The Scindia School.
Housed in the 300 ft. high hill fortress of Gwalior, the all-boys Scindia School was established in 1897 as the Sardar's School by Maharaja Madho Rao Scindia I of Gwalior. The school moved to its present premises on Gwalior Fort in 1908 when the military school was amalgamated and an endowment fund was established. In 1933, the Regency Council felt that the institution would be far more useful to the sardars, the state, and the country if it were run on the lines of an up-to-date public school.
