Background

Cheung attended the Buddhist Lee Chak Po Memorial School in Lei Muk Shue Estate, Tsuen Wan and Carmel Alison Lam Foundation Secondary School in Kwai Chung. She later studied in Japan. In the early 1990s, she entered the industry as an amateur model but did not make her official debut. In 1996, Cheung participated in the Miss Asia Pageant and won the "Best Body Award" in the semi-finals, and successfully advanced to the finals. Although the finals she advanced to the top eight, she did not make it to top three finally. After that, she signed a contract with Asia Television and participated in many TV series, including the more famous ''Forrest Cat'', ''Flaming Brothers'', and the ''My Date With a Vampire'' series.
