Background

Magnificent Star was a bay mare bred in Kentucky by her owner, Mahmoud Fustok's Buckram Oak Farm. Fustok was a Lebanese businessman who had established a Thoroughbred breeding operation in the United States in the late 1970s: his most successful horse was probably Green Forest.
