Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Sum ...
league in France, established in 1938. It is governed by the
Ligue Nationale de Volley (LNV), an independent body that runs French professional volleyball under delegation from the
French Volleyball Federation (FFVB).
Prior to adopting its current name in 2009, the league used to be known as Pro A, a name it shared with its basketball equivalent.
