Licking Township was organized before 1806. By the 1830s, Licking Township contained two churches, four mills, and two of the largest ancient mounds in the county.
Government
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
