Rosenborg stated that Høgmo would return to his job as the club's head coach after the season, despite Tørums success. Tørum led Rosenborg in the last rounds of the league, and secured Rosenborg the gold medals. On 31 October, Per Matias Høgmo decided to retire as football-coach and quit his job in Rosenborg, and Tørum was offered the job as new head-coach in Rosenborg BK which he took. Tørum was awarded coach of the year for 2006. He was not able to gain the same success in the 2007 domestic season, but Rosenborg managed to qualify for the
