He served as Chairman of Emerson Electric from 1974 to 2004 and as Chief Executive Officer from 1973 to 2000. He also served as president from 1986 to 1988 and from 1995 to 1997 and was a director of Emerson from 1972 to 2004. He has sat on the Boards of Directors of
