Recognising the evolving landscape, Cell C embarked on a four-year journey, deactivating its own physical tower and radio access network (RAN) and seamlessly migrating prepaid and Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) customers to a virtualised RAN on MTN's infrastructure. Simultaneously, it migrated contract and broadband customers to Vodacom’s network through a roaming agreement. This deal is part of Cell C's broader strategy to move towards a more asset-light operating model, focusing on reducing capital expenditure and operational costs while still providing reliable service to its customers. Cell C has expanded access to approximately 28 000 towers nationwide, including over 12,000 4G/LTE-enabled sites.External links
