Ohio State

Tate committed to Ohio State in June 2022, and enrolled there in January 2023. In July 2023, his mother was killed in a drive-by shooting in Chicago. During the 2024 season, Tate caught 52 passes for 733 yards and four touchdowns. On November 16, in his return to his hometown, he caught two touchdown passes in the Buckeyes' 31–7 win over Northwestern at Wrigley Field. He had seven catches for 87 yards in Ohio State's 28–14 win over Texas in the
