Sundevall is commemorated in the scientific names of four species of reptiles: '' Elapsoidea sundevallii, Leptotyphlops sundewalli, Mochlus sundevallii'', and '' Prosymna sundevalli''. Beolens, Bo; Watkins, Michael; Grayson, Michael (2011). ''The Eponym Dictionary of Reptiles''. Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press. xiii + 296 pp. . ("Sundevall", p. 258). Also the rodent, Sundevall's jird (''Meriones crassus''), is named after him.
