Ólafur Jóhannesson (football Manager)
Ólafur Davíð Jóhannesson (born 30 June 1957, in Reykjavík) is an Icelandic football manager and former player who formerly managed the Iceland national team. During his manager career, he has won the Icelandic championship five times and the Icelandic Cup three times. During his playing career, he played most of his years as a senior player with Haukar but started his career as manager only 24 years of age with the team Einherji from Vopnafjörður. He has managed Einherji, Skallagrímur, FH, Þróttur, Haukar, Selfoss, ÍR and Valur. Managerial career FH Ólafur Jóhannesson managed FH a total of three times, the most recent and successful between the years 2002 and 2008. During those years FH rose up to become a major power in Icelandic football. In his first season as manager, Ólafur steered his team to second place, FH highest finish in years. The 2017 Úrvalsdeild karla, also known as ''Pepsi-deild karla'' for sponsorship reasons, was the 106th season of top-flight Icelandic football. Twelve teams contested the league, including the defending champions FH, who won their eighth league title in 2016. The season began on 30 April 2017 and concluded on 30 September 2017. The Icelandic Men's Super Cup (Icelandic: ''Meistarakeppni karla'') is an annual football game between the reigning champions of the Úrvalsdeild karla and the Icelandic Cup holders (or, if the same team holds both titles, between the title-holder and (usually) the team in second place in the Úrvalsdeild or occasionally the second-place team in the Icelandic Cup). It generally takes place at the start of the Iceland domestic season, in May and has been running uninterrupted since 2003 (when the holders of the 2002 titles met). It is considered the third most important competition in Icelandic football.
