Wisting (TV Series)
''Wisting'' is a Norwegian police procedural television series, broadcast by Viaplay and TV3 starring Sven Nordin as William Wisting, a senior police detective in Larvik, Thea Green Lundberg as his daughter, crime journalist Line Wisting, and (until the third season) Carrie-Anne Moss as visiting FBI Special Agent Maggie Griffin. Production The first series of ten episodes is based on two novels by Jørn Lier Horst, ''The Caveman'' (2013) and ''The Hunting Dogs'' (2012). Horst is a best-selling author in Norway, and his books have been translated into more than thirty languages. Filming started in January 2018 on a 150-day schedule. The adaptations were written by Trygve Allister Diesen and Kathrine Valen Zeiner. Diesen also directed episodes along with Katarina Launing. The show's first series had a budget of NOK 110 million (€11.4 million). Jørn Lier Horst
Jørn Lier Horst (born 27 February 1970) is a Norwegian author of crime fiction and a former Senior Investigating Officer at Vestfold police district. His books have been published in over 40 countries and have sold more than ten million copies. Horst made his writing debut in 2004 with ''Key Witness'', based on a true murder story. The detective character in his crime novels is William Wisting, and Wisting (TV series), a television series based on the series premiered in 2019. Together with Thomas Enger, he writes the thriller series about policeman Alexander Blix and news blogger Emma Ramm. He has also written children's books, including a series named ''Clue'' and books about Detective Agency No. 2. Personal life Horst was born in Bamble, Telemark, the younger of two brothers. His parents were Oddvar and Hildur Lier Olsen. In 1995 he married Beate Horst and now uses her surname. They live in Stavern with their two children. Oscar Adolf Wisting (6 June 1871 – 5 December 1936) was a Norwegian Naval officer and polar explorer. Together with Roald Amundsen he was the first person to reach both the North and South Poles. Biography Oscar Wisting was born in Larvik, in Vestfold county, Norway. He was the son of Ola Martin Olsen Wisting (1843–1927) and Abigael Helene Andersen (1843–85). He became the eldest of 13 children. His father ran a trucking business. At the age of sixteen, he went to sea and in 1892 joined the Royal Norwegian Navy. He was working as a naval gunner at Karljohansvern, the naval base in Horten during 1909 when Roald Amundsen asked him to go north with him on his forthcoming North Pole expedition. Amundsen later secretly changed his plans. Wisting went to sea believing they were heading for the North Pole.
