The Long Winters
The Long Winters are an American indie rock band based in Seattle, Washington. History Singer-songwriter John Roderick was born in Seattle, Washington, and grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. He later returned to Seattle, where he formed the Bun Family Players and The Western State Hurricanes. Following the disbandment of the latter, he was touring keyboardist for Harvey Danger. In 2001, Harvey Danger singer-songwriter Sean Nelson suggested that he and Roderick record an album—half of the songs penned by Roderick, and the other half by Nelson. Death Cab for Cutie band member Chris Walla had recently opened up the Hall of Justice studio in Seattle and agreed to help them record. Roderick recruited Joe Bass of Sky Cries Mary and Brian Young of Fountains of Wayne to flesh out several of the songs, and gradually the album evolved to feature only Roderick's songs. Fountains Of Wayne
Fountains of Wayne was an American rock band that formed in New York City in 1995. The band included founding members Chris Collingwood, Adam Schlesinger, Jody Porter, and Brian Young. They released five albums from 1996 to 2011 before effectively disbanding in 2013. They are best known for the Grammy-nominated song "Stacy's Mom". Schlesinger died of complications from COVID-19 on April 1, 2020, and the surviving members of Fountains of Wayne reunited to perform an online one-shot concert as a tribute to Schlesinger on April 22, 2020. ''Putting the Days to Bed'' is the third full-length studio album by indie rock band the Long Winters. It was released in the US by Barsuk Records and distributed in Europe by Munich Records in 2006. The album title is a lyric from the album track "Hindsight". Reception ''Pitchfork'' described the album as " issingthe masterful mark" but still "a solid effort—a step in a promising new direction" and "not so much power pop or even necessarily ''powerful'' pop—just powered up pop, all horns and echoes and toe-tapping parties", while ''Paste Magazine'' called it, "Roderick's strongest work to date". ''Song Exploder'' is a music podcast created by Hrishikesh Hirway, who hosted it from its 2014 inception until late 2018 and again from December 2019 onwards. In January 2019, Thao Nguyen became a guest host for the year, with Christian Koons serving as producer, and Hirway moving to executive producer. The biweekly show features musicians talking about the creative process behind an individual song while "deconstructing" the song into its component parts. ''Ultimatum'' is an EP by indie rock band The Long Winters. It was released by Barsuk Records on October 11, 2005, featuring six tracks, four of which were new songs released as a preview for their later release ''Putting the Days to Bed''. The band's line-up on ''Ultimatum'' varies from the line-ups featured on the band's previous two LPs, ''The Worst You Can Do Is Harm'' and ''When I Pretend to Fall''. While John Roderick and Eric Corson remain on guitar/vocals and bass/vocals respectively, Mike Squires has been added as an additional guitarist and keyboardist, and Nabil Ayers is the band's latest percussionist. Keane are an English alternative rock band from East Sussex, formed in 1995. They met while at Tonbridge School together. Sonic Boom Records
Sonic Boom Records is an independent record store located in Seattle, Washington. The store was opened by Jason Hughes and Nabil Ayers on September 26, 1997. Between 1997 and 2014, Sonic Boom had expanded to three locations in Seattle (Fremont, Ballard, Capitol Hill) and currently has one location at 2209 NW Market Street in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood. The Decemberists
The Decemberists are an American indie rock band from Portland, Oregon.
