The Mooseheart Faith Stellar Groove Band, sometimes known as Mooseheart Faith, is a Los Angeles-based Rock and roll, rock band blending 1960s folk rock and psychedelia, 1970s space rock and progressive rock and a variety of influences from world music and jazz. Background The core of the band is made of two main vocalists: Todd Homer, formerly of the punk rock, punk band The Angry Samoans, and Larry Robinson, formerly of the 1970s teen pop/soul music, soul group Apollo (band), Apollo, who also performs under the name OMB. Both of the band's primary vocalists play a number of other instruments on the band's recordings. Homer plays bass, harmonica, and synthesizer; while Robinson plays guitar, keyboards, synthesizer, and theremin. Apollo (band)
Apollo was an American R&B/ disco group that recorded for Motown in the late 1970s. They are best known as the band of future music executives Benny Medina and Kerry Gordy. History Originally the band was called Kryptonite after the green substance that weakened Superman. The group's moniker was changed to Apollo after the creators of the superhero refused to let the band use the name they created. As a result, the name of their first single was changed from "Krypto Disco" to "Astro Disco." Erich Anton Paul von Däniken (; ; born 14 April 1935) is a Swiss author of several books which make claims about extraterrestrial influences on early human culture, including the best-selling '' Chariots of the Gods?'', published in 1968. Von Däniken is one of the main figures responsible for popularizing the "paleo-contact" and ancient astronauts hypotheses. Delerium Records was a British independent record label, that specialised in psychedelic music and which existed from 1991 to 2003, and was notable in promoting the careers of bands including Porcupine Tree, Ozric Tentacles, Kava Kava, Mandragora, Sons of Selina and Moom and for starting the Freak Emporium and Molten Records. The Internet Underground Music Archive (IUMA) was an organization that provided a venue for unsigned artists to share their music and communicate with their audience. IUMA is widely recognized as the birthplace of on-line music. IUMA's goal was to help independent artists use the Internet to distribute their music to fans while circumventing the usual distribution model of using a record company. IUMA was started by Rob Lord, Jeff Patterson and Jon Luini from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1993. IUMA originally existed as FTP and Gopher sites, before the World Wide Web was widely used. On March 9, 1994 CNN featured IUMA in their "Showbiz News" segment. Camper Van Beethoven is an American rock band formed in Redlands, California in 1983, later based in Santa Cruz and San Francisco.
