The Lambs Of Christ
The Lambs of Christ, also known as Victim Souls of the Unborn Christ-Child, is a Christian anti-abortion organization in the United States. It was founded by Norman Weslin in 1988. In 1992, ''Time'' described the group as "the most zealous and aggressive of the pro-life organizations" in wanting to shut down abortion clinics, using tactics like blockades and chaining themselves to objects so they would be difficult to remove. Weslin described the approach as buying time, saying, "The longer it takes to cut us out of our locks, the longer the killing machines are off." Another anti-abortion group, Operation Rescue, did not officially support the blockades, but would refer interested people to the Lambs. Operation Rescue (formerly Operation Rescue West or California Operation Rescue), the operating name of Youth Ministries Inc., is an anti-abortion organization in the United States. The organization originated in California and is now based in Kansas. Operation Rescue West was founded by Operation Rescue's tactical director, Jeff White, as a branch of Randall Terry's original Operation Rescue organization. Under White, Operation Rescue West maintained its focus on abortion. White aborted leadership in 1999 following an $880,000 judgment against Operation Rescue for harassment and intimidation of Planned Parenthood staff and its leadership to Troy Newman. James Charles Kopp
James Charles Kopp (born August 2, 1954) is an American who was convicted in 2003 for the 1998 sniper-style murder of Barnett Slepian, an American physician from Amherst, New York who performed abortions. Prior to his capture, Kopp was on the FBI's list of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives. On June 7, 1999 he had become the 455th fugitive placed on the list by the FBI. He was affiliated with the militant Roman Catholic anti-abortion group known as "The Lambs of Christ". Barnett Abba Slepian (April 23, 1946 – October 23, 1998) was an American physician and abortion provider who was assassinated in his home by James Charles Kopp, a militant member of the US anti-abortion movement. Life and career Slepian was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and raised in Rochester, New York; his grandfather was a Jewish immigrant from Russia. Slepian graduated from the University of Denver with a zoology degree. He then graduated from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara medical school in 1978. Slepian worked at Buffalo Women Services in Buffalo, New York, providing abortion for members of the local and surrounding communities.
