Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination
The Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination (QUID) is a proposed "space currency" created as a viral marketing campaign launched by Travelex with the London-based public relations and advertising firm, talkPR. The full name is a backronym from 'quid', a slang term for the British Pound. The campaign stated that Travelex was launching a new form of money for space tourists that had no sharp edges, was chemically inert, and had other advantages over paper money. The QUID After coming up with the idea of a space-money campaign, talkPR and Travelex contacted the National Space Centre, whose employees were presented with a number of mockups made by the campaign artists and were asked to select one. The Quid
The Quid was a Canadian garage rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, active during the 1960s and 1970s. History The Quid was formed in 1964 in Winnipeg by musicians who were performing at the Twilight teen club. The original band members included Ron Rene, Bill Pavlik, Colin Palmer, Al Johnson and Morley Nickles. Their single "Lover, Lover" charted on the Canadian Top 100. They were the featured band on the compilation album ''Winnipeg 1965–66''. Johnson left the band and was replaced by Lenny Fidkalo. In 1966 the band released a single, "Crazy Things", on Eagle Records. It was included as a bonus track on the CD reissue of the early garage rock compilation album ''Pebbles, Volume 2''. KWID (101.9 FM, "La Buena 101.9") is a commercial radio station that is licensed to Las Vegas, Nevada. The station is owned by Lotus Communications and broadcasts a Spanish-language adult hits format. The KWID studios are located in the unincorporated community of Spring Valley in Clark County and its transmitter is on Black Mountain in Henderson. Prior to the use of the call letters in Las Vegas, there was an unrelated shortwave radio station called KWID during World War II. Based in San Francisco, the original KWID was commissioned by the federal government to reach an international audience.
