The president of the National Assembly of Armenia () is the Speaker (politics), speaker of the house in the National Assembly (Armenia), Parliament of Armenia. The incumbent speaker is Alen Simonyan, since 2 August 2021. Coat Of Arms Of Armenia
The national coat of arms of Armenia () was adopted on April 19, 1992, by resolution of the Armenian Supreme Council. On June 15, 2006, the National Assembly (Armenia), Armenian Parliament passed the law on the state coat of arms of Armenia. It consists of an eagle (heraldry), eagle and a lion (heraldry), lion supporting a shield. The coat of arms combines new and old symbols. The eagle and lion are ancient Armenian symbols dating from the first Armenian kingdoms that existed prior to Christ (title), Christ. These symbols are found on the Armenian Highlands, Armenian Highland from times immemorial. Numerous Armenian dynasties such as Artaxiad dynasty, Artaxiad, Arsacid dynasty of Armenia, Arsacid, Bagratuni dynasty, Bagratuni and Rubenids, Rubenid, used these symbols as their royal insignia. Avetis Aharonian
Avetis Aharonian (; 4 January 1866 – 20 March 1948) was an Armenian politician, writer, public figure and revolutionary, also part of the Armenian national movement. Biography Aharonian was born in 1866 in Surmali, Erivan Governorate, Russian Empire (today Iğdır, Turkey). Growing up, he was influenced by the natural features of his birthplace, such as the Aras River and Mount Ararat, both of which were located near Surmali. His mother, Zardar, was a literate person, who was able to educate her child by teaching him how to read and write. After completing elementary education at the village's school, he was sent to Echmiadzin's Gevorkian Seminary, and graduated from there. He became a teacher for a few years, after which he went to Switzerland's University of Lausanne to study history and philosophy. Karen Serobi Demirchyan (; 17 April 1932 – 27 October 1999) was a Soviet and Armenian politician who served as President of the National Assembly in 1999 until he was killed in the Armenian parliament shooting. He had been also the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Armenia from 1974 to 1988. Biography Demirchyan had a difficult childhood. Both his parents died when he was still an infant. Levon Hakobi Ter-Petrosyan (; born 9 January 1946), also known by his initials LTP, is an Armenian politician and historian who served as the first president of Armenia from 1991 until his resignation in 1998. A senior researcher at the Matenadaran, he led the Karabakh movement for the unification of the Armenian-populated Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia which began in 1988. After Armenia's declaration of independence from the Soviet Union in September 1991, Ter-Petrosyan was elected president in October 1991 with overwhelming public support.
