Yoko Ono
Yoko Ono (, usually spelled in katakana as ; born February 18, 1933) is a Japanese multimedia artist, singer, songwriter, and peace activist. Her work also encompasses performance art and filmmaking. Ono grew up in Tokyo and moved to New York City in 1952 to join her family. She became involved with New York City's downtown artists scene in the early 1960s, which included the Fluxus group, and became well known in 1969 when she married English musician John Lennon of the Beatles, with whom she would subsequently record as a duo in the Plastic Ono Band. The couple used their honeymoon as a stage for public protests against the Vietnam War with what they called a bed-in. She and Lennon remained married until Murder of John Lennon, he was murdered in front of the couple's apartment building, the Dakota, on December 8, 1980. Ono Island (Alabama)
Ono Island is a long barrier island located in southern Baldwin County, Alabama, United States, at the mouth of Perdido Bay near the Gulf of Mexico. It is bordered by Bayou St. John to the north and Old River to the south. Surrounding communities include Perdido Key, Florida to the south and east and Orange Beach, Alabama to the south and west. The island is home to a single community which is not within the corporate limits of any municipality. It's both private and gated. Ono is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Shasta County, California. Ono's center is on County Road A16, locally known as Platina Road, the village's only access to the rest of the world. It is about from its neighbor, Igo, and about from Redding, the county seat. Its population is 93 as of the 2020 census. According to tradition, the community was named for the answer ("Oh, no") usually given by a 49er California Gold Rush miner to his son when asked if the latter could accompany his father to work. The name might instead be biblical in origin. Ono is a community in slow decline, which began in the late 1970s when it lost its primary school and post office to its local neighbor, Igo.
