The wave (also Mexican wave outside North America) is a type of metachronal rhythm achieved in a packed stadium or other large seated venue, when successive groups of spectators briefly stand and raise their arms. Ola is an unincorporated community in Gem County, Idaho, United States. It is located northeast of Emmett. Ola was established as a post office July 22, 1882, by Carroll Baird. It serves the Upper Squaw Creek Valley. History The first post office in this area was "Upper Squaw Creek", established in September 1875, by Carroll Baird. Baird homesteaded along Squaw Creek, less than half a mile west of the present-day site of Ola. Nellie Ireton Mills writes that the Bairds built their cabin where the old Indian trail crosses the creek. The trail was also used by miners and others taking the short cut to, or from, Oregon and the Boise Basin. Prior to the 1875 post office, the mail was delivered by pack horse and snowshoes along the Brownlee Trail from Horseshoe Bend (Boise County) to Warren (Idaho County). Ola is an unincorporated community in Kaufman County, located in the U.S. state of Texas. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 50 in 2000. It is located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. History The area in what is known as Ola today was first settled in the late 19th century. A post office was established at Ola in 1892 and remained in operation until 1911. There were several businesses in Ola in 1896. The population of the community was reported as 72 in 1900, which dropped to 30 in 1910, and returned to 72 from 1930 to the mid-1960s. There were two businesses between 1930 and 1940, only one in 1945, and none for many years after. There is currently a small convenience store at the intersection of Hwy 243 and County Road 103, across the street from the Ola Church of Christ and local cemetery. Ola is a railway station in Sondika, Basque Country, Spain. It is owned by Euskal Trenbide Sarea and operated by Euskotren. It lies on the Txorierri line. History The station was not part of the Txorierri line when it opened in 1894. Due to budget constraints, the original alignment through Mount Artxanda included prolonged steep slopes. This caused a serious accident only two months after the opening, after which the decision was taken to build a tunnel directly under the mountain.
