Bright (American Band)
Bright is a post-rock and ambient music group based in Brooklyn, New York. Background Bright formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1993 initially as a recording project, with Mark Dwinell (guitar, vocals) and Joe LaBrecque (drums) creating songs with minimal vocals, extensive Krautrock-influenced improvisation and repeating measures. Initial raw sessions were documented at the Albatross Guest House on a 4-track recording machine and were later overdubbed. A cassette tape culled from these recordings initially released on Eek records made its way into the hands of Ben Goldberg at Ba Da Bing! records. Sunburned Hand of the Man are an experimental rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. They are a loose collective known for their frequent line up changes and large discography released on a variety of labels including Eclipse Records, Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace!, and their own ''Manhand'' label. Biography ''Sunburned Hand of the Man'' formed in Boston in 1994, growing out of a trio named ''Shit Spangled Banner'' with John Moloney and Robert Thomas managing an ever-changing line-up. Their initial influences included Sonic Youth and the Melvins, though as their line-up expanded they began to incorporate elements of folk, drone, free jazz, and funk. By the early 2000s the band were increasingly associated with the "free folk" movement as described by David Keenan in his article "New Weird America" for The Wire. ''Chunklet'' is a Georgia-based American humor and music magazine founded by Henry H. Owings in 1993. History Henry Owings began publishing ''Chunklet'' in Athens, GA, while freelancing for alternative newsweekly '' Flagpole Magazine''. “The main reason the mag started was due to my dissatisfaction with how my writing was handled in the ''Flaghole'',” Owings says, although he has intimated that ''Chunklet'' is a sanctuary for self-hating critics. Since 1993, ''Chunklet'' has published 20 issues on no particular schedule. The first 19 of these are out-of-print.
