Nova Gorica
Nova Gorica () is a town in western Slovenia, on the border with Italy. It is the seat of the Municipality of Nova Gorica. Nova Gorica is a planned town, built according to the principles of modernist architecture after 1947, when the Treaty of peace with Italy (1947), Paris Peace Treaty established a new border between Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Yugoslavia and Italy, leaving nearby Gorizia outside the borders of Yugoslavia and thus cutting off the Soča Valley, the Vipava Valley, the Gorizia Hills and the northwestern Karst Plateau from their traditional regional urban centre. It is the European Capital of Culture in 2025. Kostanjevica Monastery
The Kostanjevica Monastery with Annunciation Church stands on a -tall hill dividing the town of Nova Gorica and the settlement of Pristava, Nova_Gorica, Pristava. It is located in Slovenia just from the Italy–Slovenia border. It is the burial place of Charles X of France and his family. History In 1623 a small Carmelites, Carmelite sanctuary was erected just outside the limits of the town of Gorizia. In the next hundred years, a monastery was built next to the church, and the monastic chapel became an important site for pilgrims from Friuli and the Goriška, Gorizia region. In 1781, the monastery was disbanded by Emperor Joseph II, Holy Roman Emperor, Joseph II. In 1811, the Franciscan friars acquired the abandoned complex, re-establishing the monastery. Among other things, they brought a notable library containing some 10,000 books, which they transferred from the nearby Sveta Gora Monastery. Nova Gorica Railway Station
Nova Gorica railway station (; ) serves the town and Municipalities of Slovenia, municipality of Nova Gorica, in the Slovenian Littoral region of Slovenia, and is also accessible from the town of Gorizia, Italy. The station forms part of the Bohinj Railway, between Jesenice railway station, Jesenice, Slovenia, and Trieste, Italy. Due to its geographical position, it has undergone several changes of nationality and name.
