Badakhshan
Badakhshan is a historical region comprising parts of modern-day north-eastern Afghanistan, eastern Tajikistan, and Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County in China. Badakhshan Province is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan. Much of historic Badakhshan lies within Tajikistan's Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, in the southeastern part of the country. The music of Badakhshan is an important part of the region's cultural heritage. Frame Drum
A frame drum is a drum that has a drumhead width greater than its depth. It is one of the most ancient musical instruments, and perhaps the first drum to be invented. It has a single drumhead that is usually made of rawhide, but man-made materials may also be used. Some frame drums have mechanical tuning, while on many others the drumhead is tacked in place. The drumhead is stretched over a round, wooden frame called a shell. The shell is traditionally constructed of rosewood, oak, ash etc. that has been bent and then scarf jointed together; though some are also made of plywood or man-made materials. Metal rings or jingles may also be attached to the frame. In many cultures larger frame drums are played mainly by men in spiritual ceremonies, while medium-size drums are played mainly by women. Madina Aknazarova ( tg, Мадина Акназарова; born February 15, 1998) is а Tajik pop singer of Pamiri origin, as well as a performer of traditional Persian songs from both Tajikistan and Afghanistan. Biography Madina Aknazarova was born on February 15, 1998, in the city of Khujand as the only child of parents from Badakhshan. When she was 4 years old, she and her parents left for Russia to the city of Saint Petersburg for a couple of years. Aknazarova attended school in the city of Chkalovsk, before her family left again for Saint Petersburg after completing the second grade. Nobovar Chanorov ( tg, Нобовар Чаноров, fa, ناباور چناراف) (born December 25, 1970) is a Tajik singer of the Shams group. The Shams and Nobovar Chanorov are known as Beatles of Tajiks. Created in 1995, Shams is today one of the best groups of Rock and Roll in Tajikistan. This group of 7 musicians between 25 and 40 years, originating in Pamir, is the most known group since their first concert in Almaty. A month before the peace agreement of civil war was signed in Tajikistan, the group has returned to Dushanbe. Daler Nazarov ( tg, Далер Назаров) (born September 8, 1959) is a Tajik singer, composer and actor of Pamiri origin. Biography Daler Nazarov was born in the Former Soviet Republic of Tajikistan. In the late 1970s, he created "Daler Nazarov's Band" which primarily focused on the rock genre and made him and his band popular. To his many fans, Daler Nazarov's band was regarded as the "Beatles" of Tajikistan. His songs "Agar on turki sherozi", "Zebo ba Zebo", "Chashmi kabudi dudi", "Chak-chaki boron", Dunyoi savdo bigzarad", "Hargiz az yod", "Nigori nozanin", "Bo perahani yosuman", "Telefoni sulh" were instant hits of the 1980s in the former Soviet Republic of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Muboraksho Abdulvahhobovich Mirzoshoyev ( tg, Муборакшо Абдулваҳҳобович Мирзошоев), better known as Muboraksho (Муборакшо) or Misha (Миша), was a Pamiri singer and composer recognized alongside Daler Nazarov as a pioneer of rock music. Muboraksho was born on August 19, 1961 in Rushon district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region of Tajik SSR. He died on February 8, 2001. Career Muboraksho spent his childhood in his home village of Yemts (Russian: Емц) in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO). Oleg Fesov
Oleg Fezov, or Oleg Fesov ( tg, Олег Фезов) is a musician, and composer from Tajikistan, who composes and arranges his songs in addition to performing. In 1990 he graduated from Dushanbe College of Arts where he majored in sculpture. Later he decided to switch fields and soon enough he was one of the best illustrating artists of children's periodic and used to be the art director of "Mash Ap" children's magazine. But his natural talent for music soon overpowered his love for graphic art. He used to play violin as a kid and since then he always had passion for music. This allowed him to simultaneously develop a musical career. He first started to compose and arrange music and later performing his own songs and music. He now lives in Germany. Despite living as an immigrant, Fesov still feels strongly connected to his home country and his ancestors from the Pamir Mountains.
