Kizomba
Kizomba is a dance and musical genre that originated in Angola in 1984. Kizomba means "party" in Kimbundu, a Bantu language spoken by the Ambundu in Angola. Origin and evolution Music genre The origins of kizomba can be traced to late-1970s Africa, with influences variably attributed to Angola. Kizomba is characterized by a slower, romantic, more sensuous rhythm than the traditional Angolan semba music. Kizomba music emerged as a fusion of Semba, Angolan Merengue, Kilapanga, and further Angolan music influences: It slowed down the cadence of songs and added a stronger bass line to the composition of instruments. Eduardo Paim is internationally recognized as the "father/creator of Kizomba music", as he and his band were taking a major role in the development of the music style creation. Neide Núria de Sousa Van-Dúnem Vieira (born July 4, 1986), also known as Neide, is a popular Angolan contemporary singer, songwriter, and film/television actress. Born and raised in Luanda, Angola, Neide started her acting career in local theater in 2003, at the age of 17, being cast in the television soap "Sede de Viver" a year later. Pedro Henriques Lisboa Santos (born 7 July 1983), better known by his stage name C4 Pedro, is an Angolan kizomba musician. Biography Son of the singer Lisboa Santos, C4 Pedro was born in Luanda on 7 July 1983, but grew up in Belgium, where he really started his music career with the group Brother Lisboa Santos alongside his brother Lil Saint. After 10 years he went back in Angola to pursue his music career. He released 3 albums; Lagrimas with Lil Saint, Calor e frio and King Ckwa. Compas, also known as compas direct or compas direk (; Haitian Creole: ''konpa'', ''kompa'' or ''kompa dirèk''), is a modern méringue dance music genre of Haiti. Emílio Camilo da Costa (born 5 January 1974), known professionally as Don Kikas, is an Angolan singer from the city of Sumbe in the southern Angolan province of Cuanza Sul. Early life In his early days as a child his parents moved to Brazil where he started to take a liking to music and dreaming of becoming a singer. At the age of 8, he was assisted by his mother in writing his first song. He would attend a few singing contests and as he walked out victorious, his passion for singing grew.
