Hoosier Gym
Hoosier Gym is a basketball gymnasium, museum, and community center located in Knightstown, Indiana. It is famous for being a filming location for the 1986 basketball movie ''Hoosiers (film), Hoosiers'', starring Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper. The gym was the home court of the movie's Hickory Huskers. The facility has retained the same appearance as when the movie was filmed in 1985. The gym attracts 80,000 tourists to the town per year. Basketball games were held in Bell's Hall above Jolly's Drugstore and in the basement gym of the Presbyterianism, Presbyterian Church. Knightstown, Indiana
Knightstown is a town in Wayne Township, Henry County, Indiana, adjacent to Rush County, along the Big Blue River. The population was 2,140 at the 2020 census. It is approximately thirty-two miles east of Indianapolis. Knightstown was used in the 1986 film '' Hoosiers''. The Hoosier Gym was used in the filming of the film. Knightstown hosts two annual festivals: Jubilee Days held in early-mid June and The Hoosier Fall Festival held in September. Knightstown also hosts an annual car show and a music series on the town square. History Knightstown was founded and platted by Waitsell M. Cary in 1827, the same year Knightstown was incorporated. NBA High School Draftees
The NBA high school draftees are players who have been drafted to the National Basketball Association (NBA) straight out of high school. The process of jumping directly from high school basketball to the professional level is also known as going prep-to-pro. Since 2006, drafting high school players has been prohibited by the NBA collective bargaining agreement, which requires that players who enter the draft be 19 years of age or older and at least one year removed from high school. The NBA has long had a preference for players who played college basketball, and the vast majority of players who play in the NBA attended college beforehand.
