The V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (), also known as Kharkiv National University or Karazin University, is a public university in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Kharkiv City Council () is the city council for the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, and is elected every five years to run the city's local government. Ihor Oleksandrovych Terekhov (; born 14 January 1967) is a Ukrainian politician who is serving as the mayor of Kharkiv since 11 November 2021. He ascended to the mayoralty on 24 December 2020 following Hennadiy Kernes' death due to COVID-19 complications. The Kharkiv early mayoral election was held on 31 October 2021, and Terekhov was declared the winner of the election with 50.66% of the votes. House Of Projects
The House of Projects (, ) is a building located on Freedom Square in Kharkiv, Ukraine. It is one of the three major buildings of the square together with Derzhprom (House of State Industry) and the House of Cooperation. Construction history An all-Union competition for the best design was launched to select the optimal building design. On 5 February 1930, architects Sergey Serafimov and Maria Zandberg won the competition with their project "To Catch Up and Overtake". The Vesnin brothers came in second place, and Kharkiv architects and M. L. Mordvynov came in third. All three winning projects evisaged a skyscraper in the constructivist style. The construction began in 1930. The House of Projects was built, like Derzhprom, from monolithic reinforced concrete, but with wooden floors to save money on the construction. Dormition Cathedral, Kharkiv
The Assumption or Dormition Cathedral was the main Orthodox church of Kharkiv until the construction of the Annunciation Cathedral in 1901. The cathedral stands on the University Hill by the bank of the Lopan River and dominates the entire downtown. The Neoclassical cathedral bell tower, built in the 1820s and 1830s to a height of 90 meters, remained the tallest building in the city until the 21st century. The cathedral is the only building in Kharkiv visited by almost all Emperors of Russia, starting with Catherine the Great. Kharkiv railway station () is a railway station in Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine. History The first station in Kharkiv was built in 1869 by famous Russian architect Andrey Ton. However, with the development of railways (especially after the opening of the road to Balashov (town), Balashov in 1895) in 1896–1901, the station was expanded and modernized by architect I.
