The following is a glossary of terms used in the dice game craps. Besides the terms listed here, there are many common and uncommon craps slang terms. A : A roll of 3 : A roll of 2 (each roll of 1 is an ace), see also: Snake Eyes B : A roll of or bet on double-2 (a pun for two-two as in tutu) : The number 7 or a bet for any 7 to appear : A slang term for the dice : The place numbers (4,5,6,8,9,10) : A roll of or bet on 12 C : Nine, often called Center Field Nine : when a player buys into a game specifically with cash, the "only" means no bets are being placed at the time of the buy in. Craps
Craps is a dice game in which players gambling, bet on the outcomes of the roll of a pair of dice. Players can wager money against each other (playing "street craps") or against a bank ("casino craps"). Because it requires little equipment, "street craps" can be played in informal settings. Dice Control
Dice control in casino craps is a controversial theory where proponents claim that individuals can learn to carefully toss the dice so as to influence the outcome. A small but dedicated community of dice shooters claim proof of dice influencing in casino conditions. The concept of such precision shooting claims to elevate craps from a random game of chance to a sport, like bowling, darts, or Billiards, pool. Many within the advantage gambling community still doubt if dice control can overcome the house advantage on craps. Controlled shooting The concept of "controlled shooting" goes beyond simply "Craps#Dice setting or dice control, setting the dice" prior to shooting. It purports to limit the rotation of the dice during the roll. The theory is that if the dice are properly gripped and tossed at the correct angle they will land just before the back wall of the craps table, then gently touch the wall, greatly increasing the probability of their remaining on the same axis. Natural (gambling)
A natural is a term in several gambling games; in each case it refers to one or two specific good outcomes, usually for the player, and often involves achieving a particular score in the shortest and fastest manner possible. Examples In blackjack, the best possible hand for the player is to reach a score of 21 with exactly two cards, which necessarily involves an Ace and a ten-valued card (a 10, jack, queen, or king). This hand, which usually defeats any other hand of 21 and carries a higher payout of winnings, is referred to as a "blackjack", or a "natural". Traditionally, a natural in blackjack pays 3:2.
