The Gents (British Band)
The Gents are an English mod revival band from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, active in the 1980s and reunited occasionally from 2010, significant and notable for their lower end UK chart history from 1985 to 1987. Career The group began as a cover band, playing songs originally recorded by The Who, The Kinks, The Jam, The Lambrettas and Madness (band), Madness, along with original material and other contemporary covers. They attracted attention after winning a competition hosted by EMI, the prize of which was studio time at Abbey Road Studios. The result was their debut single, the double-a-sided "The Faker"/"Le Pink Pantser" in 1981 although not recorded at Abbey Road as they decided to decline the one-single deal which was the prize in favour of recording it themselves back at home in the north. Washroom
A bathroom is a room in which people wash their bodies or parts thereof. It can contain one or more of the following plumbing fixtures: a shower, a bathtub, a bidet, and a sink (also known as a wash basin in the United Kingdom). A toilet is also frequently included. The Gents (American Band)
Willie Kent (February 24, 1936 – March 2, 2006) was an American Chicago blues singer, bassist and songwriter. Career Kent was born in Inverness, Sunflower County, Mississippi. Although he had played the bass guitar in Chicago's clubs since the 1950s, Kent worked full-time in careers other than music until he was over 50 years of age. Following heart surgery, he stopped work as a truck driver, and formed a band. In 1971, Kent took up residence at Ma Bea's Lounge in West Madison, Chicago. The house band became known as Sugar Bear and the Beehives, headed by Kent (the Sugar Bear) with guitarist Willie James Lyons and drummer Robert Plunkett. For the next six years, this troupe backed visiting musicians, such as Fenton Robinson, Hubert Sumlin, Eddy Clearwater, Jimmy Johnson, Carey Bell, Buster Benton, John Littlejohn, Casey Jones, and Mighty Joe Young. The Gents (Dutch Vocal Group)
Peter Dijkstra (born 11 June 1978) is a Dutch conductor, especially of choirs and vocal ensembles. Born in Roden, Drenthe, Dijkstra sang in his youth in Jongenskoor Roder, a boys' choir, which his father, Bouwe Dijkstra, founded in 1985. He sang the Cantatas of J. S. Bach with the likes of Gustav Leonhardt, Sigiswald Kuijken and Max van Egmond in Amsterdam. Later he studied singing and conducting at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Marcus Creed, and at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Jorma Panula. He also attended master classes with Eric Ericson and Tõnu Kaljuste. He led the ensemble The Gents. Dijkstra has been guest conductor of the Netherlands Chamber Choir and artistic director of the of Munich from September 2005. In 2007 he was appointed chief conductor of the Swedish Radio Choir. Steve Augarde
Steve Augarde (born 3 October 1950) is a British author and artist. He has written and illustrated several novels for children and young adults as well as over seventy picture books for younger children, including pop-up books for which he designed the paper engineering. He also designed and illustrated the ''Little Red Car'' books by Matthew Price, among others. Biography Steven Andre Augarde was born in 1950 in Birmingham and spent many years in the West Country before moving to Yorkshire. He attended Yeovil School of Art, Somerset College of Art, and Rolle Teacher Training College. As well as producing his own books, he has worked as an illustrator and paper engineer for other authors and artists.
