A gask, or gasque, is a kind of Swedish student party which starts with a more or less formal dinner. The word is believed to have originated from the card game Vira, popular in the 19th century. Vira, or Wira, is a traditional Swedish card game for three players that game designer Dan Glimne has called "Sweden's national card game". It is the most elaborate game of the Solo family that includes Solo Whist and Préférence and is "one of the most complex games ever designed".Parlett (2008), pp. 78–85.
