Elling
''Elling'' is a Norwegian Black comedy film directed by Petter Næss. Shot mostly in and around the Norwegian capital Oslo, the film, which was released in 2001, is primarily based on Ingvar Ambjørnsen's novel ''Brødre i blodet'' ("Blood brothers", 1996), one of a series of four featuring the Elling character – the others are ''Utsikt til paradiset'' ("A view of paradise", 1993), ''Fugledansen'' ("The bird dance", 1995), and ''Elsk meg i morgen'' ("Love me tomorrow", 1999). The film was followed by an original prequel not based on any of the novels, ''Mors Elling'' (2003), and a sequel, ''Elsk meg i morgen'' (2005) based on the fourth and last book in the series. Plot The movie deals with the main character, Elling, a man with generalized anxiety in his 40s, and his struggle to function normally in society. Petter Næss
Petter Næss (born 14 March 1960 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian actor and film director. His first film as a director was the comedy '' Absolutt blåmandag'' in 1999. Næss is best known for his work directing two of the three films about Ingvar Ambjørnsen's Elling character, '' Elling'' (2000), which was nominated for the foreign language film Oscar and '' Elsk meg i morgen'' (Love Me Tomorrow), (2005), in addition to '' Bare Bea'' (2003), '' Mozart and the Whale'' (2005) and '' Hoppet'' (''The Jump'', 2007) in Sweden. Ingvar Ambjørnsen
Ingvar Even Ambjørnsen-Haefs (born 20 May 1956) is a Norwegian writer. He is best known for his "Elling" tetralogy: ''Utsikt til paradiset'' (1993), ''Fugledansen'' (1995), ''Brødre i blodet'' (1996), and ''Elsk meg i morgen'' (1999). ''Brødre i blodet'' ("Blood brothers") was turned into a successful movie, entitled ''Elling'', which received an Oscar nomination in the Best Foreign Film category in 2001. The English translation of the novel is called ''Beyond the Great Indoors''. Born in Tønsberg and raised in Larvik, his semi-autobiographical debut novel ''23-salen'' ("The 23rd Row"), criticized mental health care in Norway. Svein Krøvel
Svein Krøvel (12 May 1946 – 29 December 2011) was a Norwegian cinematographer, known for his collaborations with director Knut Erik Jensen and Petter Næss. Krøvel worked on both documentaries and feature films. He started his feature film career in 1980. Since then he has been responsible for the photography of around 20 features, and collaborated with several of Norway's leading directors. Among the films Krøvel photographed and that have reached an international audience are '' Burnt by Frost'' (1997), '' Passing Darkness'' (2000) and ''Cool and Crazy'' (2001), all of which were directed by Knut Erik Jensen. The latter film became a huge success in Norway. Krøvel also photographed Torun Lian's '' Only Clouds Move the Stars'' (1998), which was awarded the Ingmar Bergman prize in 1999. Lars Lillo-Stenberg (born 30 June 1962) is a Norwegian rock musician. He is the man behind the Norwegian band deLillos, but he also played in The Last James and still plays in the band Young Neils.
