Steve Eisman
Steven Eisman (; born July 8, 1962) is an American businessman and investor known for having shorted collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), thereby profiting from the collapse of the US housing bubble in 2007–2008. Early life, education, and family Eisman grew up in New York City, where he attended Yeshiva schools. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude in 1984. He then graduated from Harvard Law School with honors. His parents worked in finance; they were brokers for Oppenheimer. Eisman was unhappy with his work in law. His parents arranged a position for him at Oppenheimer working as an equity analyst. Oppenheimer's anti-nepotism rules required his parents to pay the first year of his salary. Hy Eisman (born March 27, 1927) is an American cartoonist. Comic Strips He entered the comic strip field in 1950 and worked on several strips, including '' Kerry Drake'', '' Little Iodine'' and ''Bunny''. In comic books he was the last artist doing ''Little Lulu'' before it was cancelled in 1984. From 1986 until 2006 (when the strip went into reruns), he wrote and drew ''The Katzenjammer Kids''. An interview with Eisman on his career appeared in '' Hogan's Alley'' #15 (2007). From 1994 until 2022, he wrote and drew the Sunday strips for ''Popeye''. In December 2008, Eisman introduced the character of Bluto to the ''Popeye'' Sunday strips, as the twin brother of Brutus. Personal life In 1976, Eisman, who lives in Glen Rock, New Jersey, became a teacher at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art. He has two daughters by his first marriage. Harry Eduardovich Eisman (1913–1979) was a Red Army war hero who first rose to prominence as a young Communist in The Bronx during the 1920s and early 1930s. After two spells in New York reformatories, Eisman subsequently fled to the USSR in 1930 where he finished his education worked as a journalist. He later joined the Red Army and fought on the Eastern front, including at the Battle of Stalingrad.
